Who we are
Housey (“Housey”, “we”, “us”) is a UK property-services marketplace that connects homeowners with local service providers. The website and service are owned and operated by Quill Media Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 07363552), registered office 20–22 Wenlock Road, London, N1 7GU.
Quill Media Ltd is the data controller responsible for your personal data. If you have any questions about this policy or wish to exercise your rights, please use our contact form.

What data we collect
Depending on how you use Housey, we may collect:
- Account data — your email address and authentication details (we use passwordless email one-time codes).
- Homeowner data — details you provide about your property and project through our survey (for example property type, postcode, and the service you need).
- Provider data — business name, contact details, service area, capabilities, and verification documents (such as insurance certificates).
- Transaction data — credit purchases, quotes, and leads. Card payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your full card details.
- Communications — messages you send us via the contact form, reviews you leave, and notification preferences.
- Technical data — a strictly-necessary session cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies. See our Cookie Policy.
How we use your data and our lawful basis
| Purpose | Lawful basis (UK GDPR) |
|---|---|
| Creating and managing your account | Performance of a contract |
| Matching homeowner requests to suitable providers and distributing leads | Performance of a contract and our legitimate interest in operating the marketplace |
| Processing credit purchases and payments | Performance of a contract |
| Verifying regulated providers | Legitimate interest and legal obligation |
| Sending you service and lead notifications | Performance of a contract |
| Sending optional marketing communications | Consent (which you can withdraw at any time) |
| Keeping the platform secure and preventing fraud/spam | Legitimate interest |
Who we share your data with
When a homeowner submits a request, relevant details are shared with the matched providers so they can prepare a quote. When a homeowner accepts a quote, contact details are exchanged so the parties can arrange the work. Housey is an introducer and is not a party to the contract between homeowner and provider.
We also use trusted third-party processors to run the service. Each acts under a data-processing agreement and only processes data on our instructions:
- Stripe — payment processing.
- Postmark — transactional email delivery.
- Cloudinary and Vercel Blob — image storage and delivery.
- Amazon Web Services (S3) — secure document storage.
- Neon — database hosting.
- Vercel — application hosting.
- Cloudflare (Turnstile) — anti-spam protection on our contact form.
- Twenty CRM — our self-hosted system for provider onboarding.
- postcodes.io and OpenStreetMap — geocoding and maps for service areas.
International transfers
Some of our processors are based outside the UK. Where personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision (including the UK–US Data Bridge).
How long we keep your data
We keep personal data for as long as your account is active and as long as needed to provide the service. After that, we retain data only where required for legal, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes, then delete or anonymise it.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- access a copy of the personal data we hold about you;
- have inaccurate data corrected;
- have your data erased (“right to be forgotten”);
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- data portability;
- withdraw consent to marketing at any time.
You can request a copy or deletion of your data at any time through your account or by using our contact form. We will respond within one month.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority, at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to address your concerns first via our contact form.
